High Value Network Equipment From London to Dubai

Importer of Record (IOR), DDP clearance, warehousing and white glove delivery for a global financial services firm

Your equipment, our import licence: high value network equipment from London to Dubai

Multinationals expanding in the Gulf often need equipment on site before they hold a UAE import licence of their own. A global financial services firm was in exactly that position with high value enterprise network equipment bound for Dubai. S A G Logistic Services LLC acted as its Importer of Record (IOR) and took full responsibility for everything after landing, and the account has since become recurring business.

What the client needed

Import capability without a local licence

Importing into the UAE requires a Trade Licence (TL) with import activity and a VAT Certificate (TRN). The client wanted its equipment in Dubai without setting up an import licence of its own, so it needed a partner able to import under its own licence rather than simply move cargo.

Delivery aligned with site dates

The Dubai site was working to fixed dates, so each consignment had to reach it when planned. The client’s team in Europe managed origin handling and air freight; everything from landing onwards, at a landed cost agreed at the outset, sat with the UAE partner.

Who this is for

How S A G Logistic Delivered

Importer of Record (IOR)

Every consignment entered the UAE under the company's licence and registrations, with the IOR managing the import from landing onwards.

Documents Verified Before Departure

For every shipment, the commercial invoice, packing list and supporting documents were reviewed with the client's team before the cargo left London. Each shipment was accepted only once its paperwork was fully accurate, which supports smooth clearance. Every document required in the UAE was prepared in advance.

Customs Brokerage, Compliance & DDP

Declarations were filed with Dubai Customs through Mirsal, with the HS classification and CIF customs value confirmed in advance. The regulatory approvals required for the networking equipment were arranged as standard. Duty and import VAT were settled under DDP before delivery.

Warehousing on request

When the site asked for a later delivery date, consignments were held in a secure, company-managed partner warehouse in Dubai until the agreed slot.

White glove delivery

A trained in-house crew moved each consignment by secured road transport to the client's site, either directly after clearance or from the warehouse, and handled it through to handover.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How is an Importer of Record different from a freight forwarder?
A freight forwarder arranges transport. An Importer of Record imports the goods under its own licence and registrations, manages the customs declarations, duties and approvals, and then delivers to the consignee, who does not need an import licence of its own.
Telecommunications and wireless-enabled equipment generally needs regulatory type approval in the UAE before it can be cleared. An experienced IOR arranges this before the cargo arrives.
On a CIF basis: the transaction value plus freight and insurance to the point of entry. Customs duty (generally 5%, with exemptions for some goods) and 5% import VAT are calculated from that value.

Under DDP, duty and VAT are paid before delivery and the receiver has one fixed landed cost. Under DAP, the receiver pays duty and VAT on arrival.
